What personal information do we collect?

Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site or any landing page, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site.

When you use our apps we also collect your geolocation in order to facilitate the carpool (e.g. a Rider knowing the Driver is on their way), as well as to confirm that carpools are actually taking place.

Information you provide to us on our website
We collect information you knowingly provide to us when you fill out a form or contact us through a chat widget on our site such as your email address, name, company name, office location, and a number of employees.

Information you provide to us in the app
We collect personal information you knowingly provide to us through registration and/or account settings such as your name, email address, starting location, and your phone number.

Information received from other parties
We may obtain information about you from other third party sources to update or supplement the information that you provide or that we collect automatically. This includes information from your employer. We may use this information to help your company set up the app and carpooling program.

How do we use your information?

We may use the information we collect from you in the following ways:

  • To provide you the carpooling services (such as to connect Riders with Drivers and allow them to communicate with one another);
  • To be able to provide you user support
  • To be able to answer your question, contact you or send a required offer.
  • To personalize your experience and to allow us to deliver the type of content and product offerings in which you are most interested.
  • To improve and optimize our Site (e.g., by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site and our landing pages, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns) and Mobile App.

Sharing your Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information. To provide requested services, we share your personal information with other users, third parties, and service providers.

1. Sharing between users
To provide the carpooling service, certain information is available to other users on your profile, such as your name, employer, and photo. Additionally, after being matched with other Poola users, we share more of your information with them, such as your location, pick-up and drop off addresses, your contact information and other preferences in your profile to provide easy commute. These informations are shared only with users within the same company.

2. Sharing between Poola and third-parties

Affiliated partners
We share certain information about your use of the Services, such as frequency of usage, vehicle data for parking access with your company to help them understand the value of Poola’s carpooling program.

Third party services
We share your information with following service providers:

  • Google Analytics to help us understand how our customers use the Site – you can read more about how Google uses your Personal Information here: https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can also opt-out of Google Analytics here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • Google Ads where Google is a separate administrator of the user’s personal data. The data we collect about users help us to better target our ads and promotions.

Other sharing
We may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful requests for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

Sharing outside European Union
Additionally, If you are an European Citizen, please note that your information will be transferred outside of Europe, including to Canada and the United States, to companies such as Google LLC (Privacy Policy).

In addition to the above cases, we will not transfer or allow the transfer of personal data provided by users outside the EEA (ie outside the European Union, Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland), unless we take the necessary measures to ensure that the transfer is in line with the GDPR.
